What Is the MOQ for Custom Product Labels?
No fixed MOQ for custom labels. Digital printing lets you start with small quantities, test multiple SKUs, control costs, and scale up when needed.

One of the most common questions we hear from customers is:
“What is your MOQ for custom product labels?”
Many people assume that once a label includes a custom design, logo, or brand artwork, the minimum order quantity must be high.
That is not necessarily the case.
Because we use digital printing equipment for suitable orders, we do not have a fixed MOQ for custom labels. We can produce different quantities and provide pricing at several quantity levels so customers can compare the cost and choose the most practical option.
Why There Is No Fixed MOQ for Custom Labels
Several years ago, we introduced advanced digital printing equipment specifically to make custom label printing more flexible.
Traditional printing methods often involve plate-making and more setup work, which can make very small orders less economical.
With digital label printing, no printing plates are required.
That means we can produce small batch labels without forcing customers to meet a high minimum order quantity.
In practical terms, customers can order the quantity they actually need instead of buying more labels simply to reach an MOQ.
This Is Especially Useful for Brands With Many SKUs
Some customers have dozens, or even more than one hundred, different SKUs.
If every SKU had a high MOQ, the total investment in labels could quickly become very large.
At the same time, not every SKU sells at the same speed.
Some products may be core sellers, while others are mainly there to make the product range more complete and may have much lower sales volumes.
With multi-SKU labels and flexible digital printing, customers can order different quantities for different products instead of treating every SKU the same.
This makes inventory management more practical and helps reduce unnecessary label stock.
Small Quantities Can Help Growing Brands Control Their Budget
For brands that are still growing, every part of the budget matters.
Packaging, product development, advertising, inventory, and marketing all compete for the same funds.
If you are forced to order a large quantity of labels before you really need them, part of your budget becomes tied up in packaging inventory.
With low MOQ labels, you can start with smaller quantities and keep more of your budget available for product development and marketing.
This is one of the main reasons many growing brands prefer digital printing for their early-stage label orders.
Small-Batch Printing Can Also Be Used for Market Testing
Flexible quantities are not only useful for small brands.
Even when the final order will be large, it can still make sense to produce a smaller quantity first.
For example, before committing to a large-volume production run, you may want to test:
- whether consumers like the label design
- whether the finishing effect matches the product
- whether the packaging looks right on the shelf
- whether a new SKU or design performs well in the market
A smaller test run allows you to collect feedback before moving into larger-scale label printing.
If changes are needed, you can adjust the design before producing the full quantity.
Why Digital Printing Works Well for Small Orders
For smaller orders, we usually recommend digital printing because it helps reduce unnecessary setup costs.
The main advantages include:
- no plate-making cost
- less preparation for short runs
- easier handling of multiple SKUs
- stable color reproduction
- faster changeovers between different designs
Because the artwork is printed directly from the digital file, the process is well suited to brands that need flexibility.
This is especially useful when customers have multiple designs, frequent artwork updates, or smaller quantities for individual SKUs.
We Are Not Only a Small-Batch Label Printer
It is important to clarify one point:
We are not limited to small-quantity label orders.
Digital printing is simply one production method we use when it makes sense for the order.
For larger-volume projects, we can use a production method better suited to higher quantities and overall cost efficiency.
The goal is not to force every customer into the same printing process.
Instead, we look at the quantity, artwork, number of SKUs, finishing requirements, and budget, and then recommend the production method that makes the most sense.
For us, the final goal is always the same:
to help the customer get the right balance of cost, quality, and flexibility.
Can You Compare Pricing at Different Quantities?
Yes.
If you are not sure how many labels to order, we can quote several quantity levels for comparison.
For example, instead of asking only for one quantity, you can request pricing for different volumes.
This allows you to see how the unit cost changes and decide whether it makes more sense to start small or order a larger quantity.
This is often more useful than simply asking:
“What is your MOQ?”
because the real question is usually:
“What quantity gives me the best balance between cash flow, inventory, and unit cost?”
