Are There Any Setup Charges for Custom Self-Adhesive Supplement Labels
No separate setup charges for custom supplement labels. Digital printing makes small batches, multiple SKUs, and market testing more flexible.

One question we often receive at the beginning of a new project is:
“Do you charge a setup fee for custom self-adhesive labels?”
The answer is simple:
No, we do not charge a separate setup fee.
Whether your order is large or small, the quotation we provide already reflects the production method required for the project.
For larger orders, setup is naturally part of the overall production process.
For smaller orders, we normally use digital printing for supplement labels, which is specifically designed for flexible, short-run production.
That means customers do not need to pay a separate traditional plate-making or setup charge.
Why Small Orders Do Not Need a Separate Setup Charge
Some customers understand why a large-volume order may not have a separate setup fee, but they are surprised when we say the same thing applies to small quantities.
The reason is digital printing.
For small-batch label orders, digital printing allows us to print directly from the artwork file without making traditional printing plates.
The equipment preparation and production setup are already included in the quotation.
So instead of telling customers:
label price + setup fee + plate fee
we simply quote the actual order based on the specifications and quantity.
This makes the pricing easier to understand and also makes supplement labels low MOQ projects much more practical.
When Is Digital Printing Suitable for Supplement Labels?
Digital printing is especially useful in several common situations.
1. Multiple SKUs With Small Quantities
Many supplement brands have several product variations.
For example:
- Vitamin D3
- Omega-3
- Magnesium
- Collagen
- Probiotics
- Ashwagandha
A growing brand may want all of these products in its range but may not need thousands of labels for every SKU.
This is where supplement labels for multiple SKUs work very well with digital printing.
Instead of forcing every SKU into a large production quantity, each design can be printed according to its actual demand.
This helps reduce unnecessary label inventory.
2. Some SKUs Have Lower Market Demand
Not every product sells at the same speed.
Some SKUs are core products, while others exist mainly to make the product range more complete.
If every SKU is printed in the same large quantity, slower-moving products may leave the customer with too many unused labels.
For these lower-demand products, small batch supplement labels can be a more practical option.
You can print more labels for your bestsellers and fewer labels for products with lower demand.
3. Testing a New Product Before Scaling Up
Digital printing is also useful when a brand is launching a new supplement but is not yet sure how the market will respond.
Instead of immediately committing to a large label order, the brand can start with a small test on supplement labels.
This allows the customer to test:
- the product
- packaging appearance
- label design
- consumer response
- sales performance
If the product performs well, the next production run can be increased.
If the design needs to change, there is less unused label inventory.
Does Digital Printing Mean We Only Handle Small Orders?
No.
This is an important point.
We use digital printing when it makes sense for smaller quantities, multiple SKUs, test orders, or frequent design changes.
For larger production runs, we can use a production method better suited to higher volume.
The goal is not to push every customer toward the same printing process.
The goal is to choose the production method that gives the best balance of:
- cost
- quantity
- quality
- flexibility
- production efficiency
What Is Included in the Quotation?
When we quote a custom supplement label project, the price is based on the actual requirements.
These may include:
- label size
- material
- quantity
- number of SKUs
- finishing
- die-cut shape
- roll or sheet format
- machine or manual application
We do not add a separate setup fee simply because the label is customized.
If you are comparing suppliers, it is always useful to ask whether plate-making, setup, or other preparation fees are already included in the quotation.
